Me and a Primate named Barcelona (Explored) by FLEECIRCUS on Flickr.
Barcelona - a female primate was rescued by the Sumatra Orang Utan Conservation Program 2 years ago (I think…Sorry, i’m fuzzy with dates).
She was kept as a pet, in a small confined enclosure with visible signs of trauma when rescued.
She’s currently rehabilitated at the conservation, still in an enclosure under stringent observation.
Barcelona’s such a bright spark, she volunteered to play with me, inviting me to feed her with fruits.
She was particularly fascinated by my cameras and shoe laces.
Once, she caught hold of one of my camera strap and didn’t want to let go. Then i was truly aware of
the amazing strength these primates are capable of.
I thought me and Barcelona made a connection that day, through her eyes I caught a glimpse of an uncanny resemblance of human behaviour and characteristic of a intelligent species.
Most of the rehabilitated Orang Utans still in enclosures are named after famous football clubs.
Which I thought was pretty amusing…
More stories to come, stay tune. :)
