Two adult bottlenose dolphins leap into the air in the Kessock Channel near Inverness, Scotland. More of the dolphins have been spotted in these waters this year than any other time since the mid-1990s. Where usually only half a dozen would be seen on a typical summer’s day, 20 individuals including seven youngsters were spotted in one day by conservation officers from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS).Picture: Charlie Phillips / WDCS / Barcroft Media
